Government Run Online Gambling Operations

Online

With the thousands of online gambling operations running worldwide, and the 12 billion dollar industry it has become, I ask the question: Is there more room for government run online gambling operations?

In early 2009, the British Columbia government attempted to bring a new online betting operation online to help bring in additional income for the local and provincial economy. On their second day of being online, they became victims to a group of computer hackers who exploited a security breach, compromising the entire operation. Their second day online would be the first and last day for this government run venture into the online gambling world เว็บพนันบอล.

With what we learned from this experience, the OLG (Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation) has plan to launch its own gaming platform for public use in late 2012. Will the OLG use more diligence to protect the integrity of their operation as well as the privacy of the public, who ultimately are the ones who will determine if this sinks or swims. Only time will tell if the OLG will successfully launch the first Canadian government run online gambling website.

After thinking about this for many hours now, I am still not sure how I feel about a Government Run internet betting website. At the casino, at least I can see people actually winning big jackpots and such. In an virtual betting environment, I would be concerned about the fairness of the games, and I much prefer the atmosphere of being there and the excitement of winning.
